A native of Southern California, Bob graduated from the University of California at San Diego in 1992 with a Bachelor’s in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. Bob then moved east to Philadelphia where he developed a love for pretzels with mustard and also completed his medical education at Hahnemann University School of Medicine. Bob settled into the fertile Midwest here in Indianapolis for his residency training at IU in Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics, where he served as chief resident of the combined program from ’01-’02. He was awarded the Resident Teacher of the Year as well as the Resident Researcher of the Year awards his final year of training.

Following Residency, Bob began career as a full time clinical faculty within the Department of Emergency Medicine at Methodist Hospital. He assumed the Medical Director position in the Riley Emergency Department in 2006 and served in this role for nearly a decade as it grew into a Level 1 Trauma Center and moved into its existing space in the Simon Family Tower. Bob was especially honored by the Faculty Teaching award from the Department of EM in 2010. He now works only part time in the Riley ED as he rounds out his clinical duties in a community setting at IU Health Saxony and Tipton Emergency Departments.

When he’s not working, Bob has many interests that keep him busy. He enjoys a multitude of outdoor activities, with a passion for fishing and travel. He has a in incredibly supportive and beautiful wife, Heather, and three amazing children.
