Devoted father and husband, community champion, servant leader… these are just a few of the phrases used to describe Mitch McKinney. He is the youngest of six and a captain in the Fort Wayne Police Department, a profession he says chose him and for which he feels blessed. He was born and raised in Fort Wayne and graduated from Bishop Dwenger High School. He received his BA in Criminal Justice from Indiana Wesleyan University. He also serves as a state executive officer for the Indiana Fraternal Order of Police as a trustee for northeast Indiana.
He has been married to his wife, Cindy, for 24 years and they have two sons, Jackson and Miles. When he’s not out improving relations between the community and the FWPD, you can find him serving the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir as a board member and heading up various philanthropic efforts with the Fraternal Order of Police.
Mitch is excited to participate in Reason to Dance, Reason for Hope this year and make an difference for the children at Riley Hospital.
