Andrew Kurz
I am a Master Barber and Owner of Royal Oak Society in Carmel, Indiana. With 12 years of service to the people behind the chair, giving not just a haircut or shave, but being a sounding board, a shoulder to cry on, lifting men up, and helping mold the young men who will shape the future of the generations to come. Knowing that I am just the catalyst, and the men who sit in my chair are the true way makers.
I was raised to be a man who stays in the background, never needing praise or glory for the good we do, but I am finding, over this journey of life, that at times you need to step into the light to make an even bigger impact on people’s lives. One of the professionals who is in the competition told me that Reason to Dance needed someone to join the cause, and something in my heart said it was time. So here I am ready to help be a wave of change for the children.
Over the past year, I have been on a huge journey, losing 104 pounds with more to go, quitting smoking cigarettes after 20 years, and training for 29029 Everesting taking place in October, where I will do an uphill climb for 23.8 miles in 36 hrs. In addition to turning 40, I will also add learning to dance to this big milestone year.
This will definitely be a story to tell once this year is over, and I am truly honored to be a part of this event. Not only to help the kids at Riley Children’s Hospital, but also to grow into a better version of myself in mind, body, and spirit along this road.
I hope to see you all there for this epic journey, and I am truly grateful for your help.
Thank you,
Andrew
