Markus Ilo

Markus began his dance journey at the age of eight and has since progressed to the highest level—OPEN—in both International Ballroom and Latin styles. He has trained with top coaches from around the world, in the United States and Europe.

In 2022, Markus and his dance partner, Agata, achieved recognition as the top U/21 couple in the USA, winning every major championship they attended, including the:

• Ohio Star Ball
• New York Dance Festival
• North American Championships
• Manhattan Dance Championships
• Heritage Classic Championships

He enjoys teaching all levels and styles, both in private and group settings, and has a particular passion for introducing new students to the world of competitive ballroom dancing.

Currently, Markus is actively competing with his Pro/Am students and has won the overall Top Teacher Award at the Indianapolis Open DanceSport Competition two years in a row in 2024/25, dancing 300+ dances in 2 days! Markus is also consistently teaching between 40-50 lessons per week at Starlite Ballroom.

In addition to his dance career, Markus is also studying both law and medicine at Indiana University! Some say he is crazy to try to balance all three of these areas but Markus is hungry and driven to succeed in anything that comes his way.
